Herbert Lee MaurerDecember 9, 1931 - December 24, 2024Herbert Lee Maurer, 93, of Mt. Zion, IL, died on December 24th, 2024, at Glen Abbey Assisted Living in Canton, MI.He was born on December 9, 1931 in Marshall, IL to Flossie and Reno Maurer.He graduated from Marshall High School in 1950, and served as a Sergeant in the Korean War. After his service he went on to work at Caterpillar in Decatur, IL until his retirement in 1986. He was a member of the American Legion for more than 60 years.He married Beverly Harrington in 1962.He is survived by his wife Beverly; sons Gregory (Kristin), Lawrence, KS and Gary, Canton, MI; grandchildren Melisa Filchak, Jackson Maurer's and Garrett Maurer; great grandchildren Maisie and Mathis Filchak; sister Norma Cox and many nieces, nephews and cousins.He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Edgar, Earl, Gene, Reno and Virgil; sisters: Norma and Barbara and son Dean.A memorial service to celebrate Herbert's life will be planned at a later dat
